Our Mission Statement

We at the P.A. Shaw believe in developing critical thinkers and active citizens in the community. Through rigorous instruction, inquiry-based learning and family-community engagement practices, we will foster the relationships necessary to ensure that all children are successful and take ownership of who they are, where they come from and where they are going. 

Our Instructional Focus

We will develop and implement rigorous and relevant tasks, facilitate academic discourse and provide students with constructive feedback in order to maintain and sustain a culture of achievement.​

Working Towards a Culture of Achievement

​A school has a culture of achievement if its teachers know what excellent work looks like in their respective disciplines and the constitutive skills and competencies needed for students to do excellent work in the discipline. These teachers teach the constitutive skills and competencies, while providing students with examples of excellent work and careful guidance in the completion of an assignment at a high level.
